pg电子下载 State University’s School of Agriculture and Applied Sciences Research Unit is focused on addressing the issues and concerns that adversely affect small farm populations and rural residents of Mississippi. Our research unit has been at the forefront in utilizing cutting edge technologies and innovations in research to assist small farm populations and rural residents in enhancing their quality of life and economic well-being.

Goals

Our research goals are:

  • To develop production systems that optimize yield, energy efficiency, profitability, and environmental stewardship
  • To develop efficient, cost-effective, and humane animal production systems that optimize environmental stewardship
  • To develop BMPs and decision support tools that enable producers to increase production while reducing water and energy usage enabling communities to develop economic systems for prosperity while protecting the surrounding environment.

To examine food production, harvesting, processing, packaging, and preparation systems that ensure high quality, nutritious and safe food supplies and conduct integrative research addressing nutrition, dietetics, and human behaviors that promote physical and mental health; prevent disease, injury, and disability; and enhance quality of life for Mississippi residents.

The challenges facing our clientele, the state of Mississippi and our country require that we engage collaborations from a diversity of expertise. Therefore, the School of Agriculture and Applied Sciences Research Unit engages the community, 1862 and 1980 land-grant community , USDA ARS, and other state, regional and federal organizations. The School of Agriculture and Applied Sciences’ research and technology transfer activities complement the applied research conducted by the nation’s land-grant universities and aim to improve the economic viability and sustainability of Mississippi’s agriculture.
